The Soper Room is the resource room for the Kratz Center for Creative Writing and Goucher’s Creative Writing Program. Made possible by a donation from Eleanor Kratz Denoon during the Julia Rogers renovation project of 2009, the Soper Room remains a dedicated common space for creative writing, hosting classes, events, readings, and open-door time for students.
The Soper Room is home to a physical collection of books published by Kratz Center Visiting Authors, Spring Writers, and guest artists at master classes, special events, and symposia. It also includes emerging titles, trade publications, anthologies, and literary magazines, including past editions of Goucher’s own literary magazine: The Preface.
The Soper Room is located on the second floor of the Julia Rogers academic building. It is also known as JR 227.
