WELCOME TO THE EDUCATIONAL COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE LAB AT GOUCHER!

Lab assistants practicing EEG net application

Our research uses electroencephalogram (EEG) testing to record and study the electrical activity that occurs in the brain. Our primary focus is to study the brain activity that occurs as adult and child participants complete numerical cognition activities such as counting, estimating, and comparing quantities.

We are especially interested in how this brain functioning relates to children’s math abilities in school. A primary research goal of the ECN Lab is to develop a better understanding of how the brain supports the development of these math skills, especially in early and middle childhood.
