Goucher College receives National Endowment for the Humanities grant
Goucher College will create the Collaborative Humanities Laboratory to enhance the study of visual, material, and historical culture using a $149,961 National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant. Goucher was one of only five institutions nationwide to receive a grant from the NEH’s Humanities Initiatives at Colleges and Universities.
Goucher College expands global education with new virtual exchanges
Goucher College has joined the second cohort of faculty scholars and university leadership teams participating in Stevens Initiative Connected Classrooms, a program for a select group of institutions dedicated to expanding global education opportunities through virtual exchange. Goucher College will partner with faculty members at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, National School of Business and Management in Dakhla, Ibn Zohr University and Sultan Moulay Slimane University to plan virtual exchanges that they will implement in classrooms for the next two years.
Goucher College announces seven faculty appointments
Goucher College is proud to announce seven faculty members’ appointment to tenure-track professor or professor of practice positions from across the college in a range of disciplines. These conversions of faculty positions build on Goucher’s long-term strategic investment in faculty and academic programs, as do the eight new undergraduate majors that the college has launched since 2019, and the additional searches now underway to hire new tenure-track faculty. Those programs are rooted in the liberal arts, and they focus on preparing students for success in a global economy.
Smithsonian creates Goucher Prison Education Partnership alumnae/i internship
Through ongoing collaboration between the Smithsonian and the Goucher Prison Education Partnership (GPEP), the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History has created a fund to support internships for alumnae/i and former students of GPEP. The internship offers former GPEP students the opportunity to leverage their educations, building valuable early career experience.
Goucher receives more than $3M to establish endowed professorships in data analytics and Asian studies
Goucher College has received more than $3,000,000 in grants and donations to establish two new endowed professorships. Matched by alumnae/i contributions, the Maryland E-Nnovation Initiative Fund has awarded Goucher $1,000,000 in grants to establish an endowed professorship in integrative data analytics. This data-science faculty position will support the college’s new integrative data analytics major and lead programming to develop students’ data analytics skills. Goucher has also announced the establishment of the John A. Luetkemeyer, Sr. Endowed Chair Fund, an endowed professorship in Mandarin Chinese and Asian studies. This new endowed professorship supports the hallmark of a Goucher education – global learning.

Goucher College is a founding member of the Liberal Arts College Racial Equity Leadership Alliance. Based at the University of Southern California Race and Equity Center, the alliance brings together some of the most highly respected liberal arts colleges in America to collaborate on developing and achieving equity goals and fostering sustainable cultures of inclusion on their campuses.

Goucher and Johns Hopkins announce dual degree program
Building on a century-long academic alliance, Goucher College and Johns Hopkins University are expanding their relationship to offer students a new dual undergraduate and graduate degree. The new 4+1 program will include a bachelor’s degree from any liberal arts major at Goucher paired with a master of science degree from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.
