Goucher College student voting up in 2020
According to a new report, Goucher College student voting increased significantly in last year’s presidential election, rising to 74% in 2020 from a rate of 66% in 2016. Goucher College student voter engagement is higher than the national average of 66% for four-year institutions and 69% for private, four-year institutions.
Leadership Café series kicks-off with governor
Goucher College and the Greater Baltimore Committee welcomed Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan for the kick-off Leadership Café event on November 2. The governor spoke with Baltimore business leaders, Goucher students, and members of the media during the event. Held in the Hyman Forum of the Ungar Athenaeum, attendees were also given the opportunity to ask questions directly to the governor at the invitation-only event. Co-moderated by Mileah Kromer, associate professor of political science and the director of Goucher’s Sarah T. Hughes Center for Politics, the Leadership Café is an ongoing speaker series featuring top government officials and political leaders. The next event will feature Maryland State Senate President Bill Ferguson.
Goucher College recognized in 2022 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges
Goucher College has been honored in multiple categories of the 2022 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, including being named one of the Best National Liberal Arts Colleges, one of the Most Innovative Liberal Arts Colleges, and one of the Best Liberal Arts Colleges for Undergraduate Teaching, as well as having one of the Top Academic Programs to Look For: Study Abroad. Goucher was also recognized for Campus Ethnic Diversity at a Liberal Arts College.
Goucher College unveils new strategic plan
The Goucher College Strategic Plan 2021-2025 is a bold step into the next historical chapter of this storied institution’s legacy. Concentrating on Goucher’s programs, people, and resources, the strategic plan articulates what the institution will be working toward throughout the next five years. Key elements of the plan include enhancing student success, expanding global education, emphasizing inclusivity, and ensuring a solid financial position. Sasaki has been chosen to lead in the creation of Goucher’s new campus master plan. The campus master plan will incorporate many of the aspirations and initiatives included in Goucher’s new strategic plan.
New faculty hires
Goucher College is proud to announce six new tenure-track assistant professors have been hired. These scholars and teachers represent the college’s commitment to a rigorous liberal arts education. Along with bringing their expertise in data analytics, economics, business, Asian studies, dance, and digital media studies, these new faculty members will contribute to Goucher’s global education emphasis and bring a multitude of experiences to inform their teaching and scholarship.
Asian studies minor launches with new Luetkemeyer Chair professor
This fall, Goucher College launched an Asian studies minor focused on Asian history, politics, and philosophies. The interdisciplinary minor explores a breadth of Asian regions, from India to Japan, and includes a study abroad experience. Complementing this new program is the recently hired Luetkemeyer Chair professor, Yu Chih “Clay” Chou. The John A. Luetkemeyer Sr. Endowed Chair Fund was recently established under the ongoing [UNDAUNTED] comprehensive campaign.
Six Goucher College faculty members awarded tenure
Goucher College is proud to announce six faculty members who have been awarded tenure and promotion, effective next year, as approved by unanimous vote of the Goucher College Board of Trustees. These dedicated faculty members are distinguished in their fields of study and recognized for their outstanding scholarly and teaching achievements.

Goucher College receives nearly $900,000 donation to support student scholarships
Through a generous gift of approximately $900,000, Goucher College announces the Anne Hoover ’67 Scholarship Fund to recruit exceptional students from traditionally underrepresented geographic regions, both domestically and internationally. This new fund, part of the college’s [UNDAUNTED] capital campaign, will offer financial support for a transformational Goucher education to students who will bring distinct experiences and perspectives to the ever-expanding Goucher community.
Goucher to offer 4+1 MBA program with Loyola University Maryland
Goucher College has announced a new dual-degree M.B.A. program with Loyola University Maryland. This new 4+1 undergraduate and graduate degree program will launch in Fall 2021 and will be open to any incoming or current Goucher student. The new partnership will allow Goucher’s undergraduates to build on their liberal arts education with an advanced business degree.
