Goucher College unveils new strategic plan

The Goucher College Strategic Plan 2021-2025 is a bold step into the next historical chapter of this storied institution’s legacy. Concentrating on Goucher’s programs, people, and resources, the strategic plan articulates what the institution will be working toward throughout the next five years. Key elements of the plan include enhancing student success, expanding global education, emphasizing inclusivity, and ensuring a solid financial position. Sasaki has been chosen to lead in the creation of Goucher’s new campus master plan. The campus master plan will incorporate many of the aspirations and initiatives included in Goucher’s new strategic plan.

New faculty hires

Goucher College is proud to announce six new tenure-track assistant professors have been hired. These scholars and teachers represent the college’s commitment to a rigorous liberal arts education. Along with bringing their expertise in data analytics, economics, business, Asian studies, dance, and digital media studies, these new faculty members will contribute to Goucher’s global education emphasis and bring a multitude of experiences to inform their teaching and scholarship.

Asian studies minor launches with new Luetkemeyer Chair professor

This fall, Goucher College launched an Asian studies minor focused on Asian history, politics, and philosophies. The interdisciplinary minor explores a breadth of Asian regions, from India to Japan, and includes a study abroad experience. Complementing this new program is the recently hired Luetkemeyer Chair professor, Yu Chih “Clay” Chou. The John A. Luetkemeyer Sr. Endowed Chair Fund was recently established under the ongoing [UNDAUNTED] comprehensive campaign.

Six Goucher College faculty members awarded tenure

Goucher College is proud to announce six faculty members who have been awarded tenure and promotion, effective next year, as approved by unanimous vote of the Goucher College Board of Trustees. These dedicated faculty members are distinguished in their fields of study and recognized for their outstanding scholarly and teaching achievements.

Same spirit, new determination

Since launching the $100 million comprehensive campaign in 2015, Goucher has raised more than $72 million to build state-of-the-art facilities like the new First-Year Village, Mary Fisher Dining Center, and the Evelyn Dyke Schroedl ’62 Tennis Center. Goucher College receives nearly $900,000 donation to support student scholarships

Through a generous gift of approximately $900,000, Goucher College announces the Anne Hoover ’67 Scholarship Fund to recruit exceptional students from traditionally underrepresented geographic regions, both domestically and internationally. This new fund, part of the college’s [UNDAUNTED] capital campaign, will offer financial support for a transformational Goucher education to students who will bring distinct experiences and perspectives to the ever-expanding Goucher community.

Goucher College expands global education with new virtual exchanges

Goucher College has joined the second cohort of faculty scholars and university leadership teams participating in Stevens Initiative Connected Classrooms, a program for a select group of institutions dedicated to expanding global education opportunities through virtual exchange. Goucher College will partner with faculty members at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, National School of Business and Management in Dakhla, Ibn Zohr University and Sultan Moulay Slimane University to plan virtual exchanges that they will implement in classrooms for the next two years.

Goucher College announces seven faculty appointments

Goucher College is proud to announce seven faculty members’ appointment to tenure-track professor or professor of practice positions from across the college in a range of disciplines. These conversions of faculty positions build on Goucher’s long-term strategic investment in faculty and academic programs, as do the eight new undergraduate majors that the college has launched since 2019, and the additional searches now underway to hire new tenure-track faculty. Those programs are rooted in the liberal arts, and they focus on preparing students for success in a global economy.
