The Goucher College Theatre Department Presents:
The Hot L Baltimore
April 9, 10, & 15, 16, 17 @ Dunnock Theatre

Also: “Hidden Charms” promotional event: March 10, 7-9 PM, Meyerhoff Arts Building

The senior theatre majors and minors of the Goucher College class of 2016 are proud to present The Hot L Baltimore, written by Lanford Wilson and directed by Professor Alvin Eng, April 9-10, 15-17 in the Dunnock Theatre. The Hot L Baltimore takes place in a Baltimore hotel so decrepit that the “e” on its sign has fallen off. This play explores a day in the lives and the hearts of the residents, staff, and visitors of the hotel- the day when the residents have all received eviction notices. The production utilizes a combination of expressionist, film noir, and realist elements. The community depicted is a metaphor for both urban America in the 1970s as well as for the senior class and is shown through the prism of the reality of life in the year 2016. Additionally, this production of The Hot L Baltimore includes a musical prelude, titled “Good Morning, America,” with book by Alvin Eng, lyrics by Mary Bernstein, and composition by Greg Borodulin.

To further this exploration and celebration of Baltimore now & then Baltimore-area musicians and spoken word artists will be performing in the lobby beginning at 7 p.m. on show dates. The Hot L Baltimore premieres at 8pm on Saturday, April 9 and will be shown on April 10, 15, 16, and 17 in the Mildred Dunnock Theatre, Meyerhoff Arts Center of Goucher College, 1021 Dulaney Valley Road, Baltimore, MD. 21202. Tickets can be reserved at http://www.goucher.edu/academics/theatre/reserve-theatre-tickets or by calling 410-337-6512. Tickets are $5 for students and $9 general admission.
