Post: March Events

Please consider joining us for these upcoming events:

Tuesday March 5, Basics of Photo Editing, 2:30-3:30 in VMB12

Come learn from CAST’s Digital Arts Specialist, Johnathan Baker, about how to do basic photo editing in Adobe Photoshop. That’s right, put a Goucher gopher in your family’s Christmas card, remove the annoying photo-bomber, or simply make an amateur shot look way better (I didn’t say professional, I just said way better). Open to students and staff as well! RSVPs appreciated: CAST@goucher.edu

Thursday March 7, Diversity Journal Club for STEM faculty, 3-4pm in CAST JR G40

Faculty in STEM disciplines are welcome to come and discuss articles related to equity and inclusion and enjoy yummy snacks in the process. Last time we discussed supporting students with Autism, this week we will be discussing supporting students who are LGBTQ.  Articles and a request for RSVP are being sent separately. We are grateful to the Winnifred Borden ’66 fund for supporting this series.

March 18-19 CPE Bootcamp, 9:30-3:30pm in CAST JR G40 (yes, during spring break!)

Faculty interested in building a CPE course, particularly for Fall 2019, are encouraged to come to this CPE Bootcamp. In two days (9am-3:30pm) you will learn about CPE expectations, nail down the big picture/big questions of your course, identify learning outcomes, and design group and individual assignments to help students achieve those outcomes. This should put you in good shape for submitting a course proposal to curriculum committee before spring registration begins.  Participants will be expected to meet again once as a group during the spring semester (will be scheduled around participants’ schedules). The two days include coffee and lunch, and participants will receive a $500 stipend. Inquire/RSVP with Cast@goucher.edu

Monday March 25th Scholarship Talks 4-5:10pm in JR G52

What a perfect way to start back up after spring break, right? Come to JR G52 for delicious refreshments and intellectual stimulation as we hear from Mary Marchand and George Greco as they present work done on their sabbatical last year. Titles of their talks are forthcoming! No RSVPs required, come if you can.
