Stolen Star- Hijaltalin<\/strong><\/p>\n

amidst temporary rifts<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

for e.h.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

when I needed a hand you extended<\/p>\n

it and it felt like finally I could imagine<\/p>\n

living for some(one)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

time\/these floaties, i thought, kept me buoyant, \u201cI was just making do,\u201d looking down<\/p>\n

shamefully at the sand on my toes, you had pulled me<\/p>\n

out of the navy blue lake.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

it was friendship it was\/finally female<\/p>\n

friendship, we gave each other tampons when we forgot them in public<\/p>\n

restrooms\/phone calls late at night about spiraling\/pain<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

from our stomach cramps, swirling\/the nonsense<\/p>\n

our heads seamlessly turns into common<\/p>\n

sense you were there at 3am\/we went back to Crystal Lake and swam together, shaking<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

the water off our heads at the Bechdel Test<\/p>\n

because, \u201cHow can women survive without bashing men once in a while?\u201d floating<\/p>\n

on our backs looking at some stars, we wished<\/p>\n

we could see more of them, we kick<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

the base of some fences on Tappan St. and stick some dandelions between<\/p>\n

the chain links, \u201cIf we love\/d a guy once\/realize<\/p>\n

we actually love someone else, whatever it is, just don\u2019t <\/em>love him anymore, if he doesn\u2019t love<\/p>\n

us back, we deserve that support,<\/p>\n

if anyone<\/em> doesn\u2019t love someone anymore,<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t think about this(.) blank space they don\u2019t teach about in children\u2019s hollywood movies.<\/p>\n

Prioritizing mental health is part of being a (person)\/(friend)-<\/p>\n

I remember our sneakered feet tapping the pavement<\/p>\n

down Harvard St\/because it was just a few days ago, and I pointed<\/p>\n

out how our legs walk in time\/we started seeing ourselves like two<\/p>\n

of your brightest blue and green Techno Glow-in-the-dark acrylic smears<\/p>\n

in the backyard you\u2019re playing your nintendo switch and apologizing about it how now it might seem<\/p>\n

like you\u2019re not listening \u201cwe\u2019re just hanging out,\u201d i begin to snore, \u201cno need to be sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n
