{"id":103,"date":"2015-10-16T14:59:39","date_gmt":"2015-10-16T14:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/Goucher\/?p=103"},"modified":"2025-07-26T16:40:06","modified_gmt":"2025-07-26T20:40:06","slug":"bragging-rights-for-goucher-grads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.goucher.edu\/magazine\/bragging-rights-for-goucher-grads\/","title":{"rendered":"Goucher Today: Campus News"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Bragging Rights for Goucher Grads<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"dropcap\">T<\/span>here are lots of reasons for Goucher graduates to be proud, like going to one of the nation\u2019s top-rated private liberal arts colleges.<\/p>\n<p>Goucher ranked No. 6 on <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em>\u2019s new national list of \u201cMost Innovative Schools\u201d for making the most forward-thinking improvements in curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology, or facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Other top <em>U.S. News<\/em> rankings include lists for \u201cHigh School Counselor Rankings,\u201d \u201cA+ Schools for B Students,\u201d and \u201cBest Schools for Veterans,\u201d and Goucher was included as a standout college for economic diversity, largest need-based financial aid packages, campus ethnic diversity, highest percentages of international students, and highest proportion of classes with fewer than 20 students.<\/p>\n<p>Goucher\u2019s Welch Center for Graduate and Professional Studies also was highlighted by <em>U.S. News<\/em> for having one of the best online master\u2019s in business degree programs.<\/p>\n<p>Goucher is still No. 1 on <em>U.S. News<\/em>\u2019 list for the colleges with the most students studying abroad, and it topped <em>Christian Science Monitor<\/em>\u2019s list of the 10 most globally minded schools.<\/p>\n<p>The college was once again included in <em>The Princeton Review\u2019s The Best 380 Colleges<\/em>. It also was named one of best institutions in the Northeast and was highlighted for its study abroad program and commitment to environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>College-matching platform College Raptor recognized Goucher as one of its 44 gem U.S. colleges and universities, high-caliber institutions based on graduation rate, selectivity, and student-to-faculty ratio.<\/p>\n<p>Goucher was again included in <em>The Fiske Guide to Colleges<\/em>, a compendium of 300 select colleges and universities deemed to be the \u201cbest and most interesting\u201d institutions of higher education.<\/p>\n<p class=\"byline\">\u2014Kristen Pinheiro<\/p>\n<h2>Goucher Parent Council Sets Goals<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"dropcap\">T<\/span>he recently formed Parent Council held its first meeting in October, during Family Weekend. Council members, whose home bases span the country from Los Angeles to New York City, support Goucher College through philanthropy, ambassadorship, and connection. Members are: Mohammad and Marjan Anvari P\u201917, Robert Awkward and Beverly Edgehill-Awkward P\u201918, Frank and Deborah Corbishley P\u201918, Daisy and Brian Detwiler P\u201918, Kenneth and Fern DuBow P\u201915\/P\u201916, David and Cathy Hirsch P\u201917, Hal and Barbara Hubschman P\u201916, Leslie and Robin Kieffer P\u201918, Roger and Cheryl Lerner P\u201918, and Gail Plucker and Robert Webb P\u201917. Richard and Nan Davis P\u201918 co-chair the council. Richard Davis was also recently elected to serve on the Goucher College Board of Trustees. Goucher\u2019s Career Development Office wants to connect alums from the greater community with our students through the Goucher Alumnae\/i Career Coaches Program.
