Professor Mori was in residence for the entire Spring semester. She taught English 300, an advanced fiction writing course, and conducted tutorials with talented creative writing students. She will also read from her work and sign copies of her award winning books. The specifics of her reading and book signing are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>What<\/strong>: A Reading by <strong>Kyoko Mori<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>When<\/strong>: Tuesday April 2, 2013, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m<br \/>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Buchner Hall of the Alumnae\/i House at Goucher<br \/>\n<strong>Information<\/strong>: <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">kratz@goucher.edu<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kyoko Mori<\/strong>, novelist, short story writer, essayist, and educator is a Professor of Creative nonfiction and Fiction at George Mason University. Kyoko Mori\u2019s award-winning first novel, <em>Shizuko&#8217;s Daughter<\/em>, was hailed by the New York Times as \u201ca jewel of a book, one of those rarities that shine out only a few times in a generation.\u201d\u00a0Professor Mori&#8217;s most recent book is a memoir, <em>Yarn: Remembering the Way Home<\/em> (GemmaMedia, 2009). She has also published a book of essays \u00a0entitled <em>Polite Lies<\/em> (Henry Holt), a memoir \u00a0entitled <em>The Dream of Water<\/em> (Henry Holt), and two other novels: <em>Stone Field, True Arrow (Henry Holt)<\/em>; and <em>One Bird<\/em> (Henry Holt). Her essays and short stories have appeared in journals such as The American Scholar, The Missouri Review, Harvard Review, and The Kenyon Review. Mori holds a Ph.D. in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She was born in Kobe, Japan, and moved to the United States in 1977. Prior to joining the faculty at George Mason, she was a Briggs-Copeland lecturer in creative writing at Harvard University.
