The Kratz Center is pleased to welcome this year&#8217;s Summer Writing Fellows (in alphabetical order):<\/p>\n<p class=\"s18\"><span class=\"s16\"><strong>Nessa Rose Brooks<\/strong> <\/span><span class=\"s17\">will<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">write a series of poems inspired by <\/span><span class=\"s17\">rail <\/span><span class=\"s17\">travel<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">around Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s18\"><strong><span class=\"s16\">Ariana Collier<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s17\"> will<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">write a murder mystery\/family drama set in Eastern Europe<\/span><span class=\"s17\">, with specific attention<\/span><span class=\"s17\">to<\/span><span class=\"s17\"> locations in <\/span><span class=\"s17\">Hungary and Serbia<\/span><span class=\"s17\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s18\"><strong><span class=\"s16\">Max Davis<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s17\"> will<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">research Baltimore and its historically significant<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">surrounding area<\/span><span class=\"s17\">s<\/span><span class=\"s17\"> to write a series of short stories based thematically in dark<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">historical fiction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s18\"><strong><span class=\"s16\">Olivia DeSena<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s17\"> will<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">take a road trip to \u201chaunted\u201d locations serially visited by accredited<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">\u201cghost hunters\u201d to write a horror fiction novella about a ghost hunter trio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s18\"><strong><span class=\"s16\">Nikki Johnson<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s17\"> will<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">spend two weeks in <\/span><span class=\"s17\">\u00d6land<\/span><span class=\"s17\">, Sweden, <\/span><span class=\"s17\">to<\/span><span class=\"s17\"> complete cultural research for her novel entitled, <\/span><span class=\"s19\">T<\/span><span class=\"s19\">he End<\/span><span class=\"s17\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s18\"><strong><span class=\"s16\">Kira Morton<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s17\"> will<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">write a series of poems exploring the impacts of gentrification in the Pacific Northwest, specifically in Portland and Seattle<\/span><span class=\"s17\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s18\"><strong><span class=\"s16\">Tovah <\/span><span class=\"s16\">Oslovich<\/span> <\/strong><span class=\"s17\">will<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">travel to Ireland\/Northern Ireland <\/span><span class=\"s17\">to research and <\/span><span class=\"s17\">write poems <\/span><span class=\"s17\">involving <\/span><span class=\"s17\">Irish folklore,<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">history<\/span><span class=\"s17\">, and her own <\/span><span class=\"s17\">Irish heritage<\/span><span class=\"s17\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s20\"><strong><span class=\"s16\">Willow Meir<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s17\"> will<\/span> <span class=\"s17\">explore Alaskan parks and cities <\/span><span class=\"s17\">as <\/span><span class=\"s17\">world-build<\/span><span class=\"s17\">ing research<\/span><span class=\"s17\"> for a short fiction series<\/span><span class=\"s17\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s18\"><strong><span class=\"s16\">Maya Platt-<\/span><span class=\"s16\">Chilkotowsky<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s17\"> will travel to <\/span><span class=\"s17\">Marburg, Germany, the town where the Brothers Grimm <\/span><span class=\"s17\">wrote <\/span><span class=\"s17\">many of their classic fairy tales, <\/span><span class=\"s17\">to research and <\/span><span class=\"s17\">write short story retellings of fairy tales with a connection to both historic and present<\/span><span class=\"s17\">-day<\/span><span class=\"s17\"> Marburg<\/span><span class=\"s17\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s18\"><strong><span class=\"s16\">Taylor Rogers<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s17\"> will <\/span><span class=\"s17\">travel to Edinburgh, Scotland, to research and write a <\/span><span class=\"s17\">horror novel <\/span><span class=\"s17\">taking place during <\/span><span class=\"s17\">the city\u2019s <\/span><span class=\"s17\">famed F<\/span><span class=\"s17\">ringe <\/span><span class=\"s17\">F<\/span><span class=\"s17\">estival.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>To apply for the 2027 Summer Writing Fellowship, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.goucher.edu\/kratz\/summer-writing-fellowships\/application\/\">this page<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Top row (l-r):\u00a0 Max Davis, Taylor Rogers Middle: Maya Platt-Chilkotowsky, Nikki Johnson, Ariana Collier, Olivia DeSena Front: \u00a0Nessa Rose Brooks, Tovah Oslovich, Willow Meir.
