New Art Exhibit: Virilit-HE

In Virilit-HE, a new art exhibit at Goucher College, eight artists—Zoё Charlton, Nick Clifford Simko, Lisa Dillin, Tim Doud, Joseph Faura, Annette Isham, Camden Place, Danny Waskiewicz, and Zac Willis—explore various aspects of masculinity.

This exhibit, which is free and open to the public, runs in the Silber Art Gallery in the Athenaeum on Goucher’s campus from Tuesday, April 1, to Sunday, May 4. The art can be viewed Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. An artists’ reception will be held Friday, April 4, 6-9 p.m., with an artists’ talk at 7:30 p.m. in the Silber Art Gallery

Through video, painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, and photography these artists give the viewer a glimpse, from their perspective, of what it means to be male within the current social climate. The diverse works in this exhibit focus on male identity—from lessons learned in youth to stereotypical male traits and the desire to buck against them.
