Generating Global Perspectives:
Support for Global Education

Our future program and our students can benefit tremendously from continued support and inspiration from our donors and their families.

Philanthropy provides faculty the opportunity to pursue scholarly or pedagogical work abroad, broadens social and cultural programs for international students here on campus, and ensures that 100% of Goucher students attain a global perspective through experiential learning.

The pandemic stalled international travel for Goucher students and faculty. During this time, Goucher’s partnership with the Stevens Initiative Connected Classrooms saw more than 150 Goucher students and faculty members participate in virtual exchanges with peers around the world.

With travel opportunities reopened during the latter half of the 2021-22 academic year, more than 50 students participated in semester-long and Intensive Course Abroad programs across 6 countries—from Scotland to South Korea.

Support from endowed and current-use funds helped provide financial aid for traveling students and funded indirect travel expenses, such as passport fees, luggage purchases, and museum tickets.

Luchen Li, Ph.D., the Associate Vice President for Global Education, credits philanthropic support as a key element to the program’s success. “Our future program and our students can benefit tremendously from continued support and inspiration from our donors and their families,” stated Dr. Li.
