Goucher College Hires New Vice President for Advancement

Trishana E. Bowden will become Goucher’s vice president for advancement starting July 13, 2015. Bowden brings an impressive 20-year track record of fundraising and development to the position, and she will be a key part of the team supporting Goucher’s future growth.

Bowden will oversee Goucher’s alumnae/i, parent, annual gift, major gift, and foundation programs. She also will work in partnership across the campus, especially with the Development and Alumnae/i Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees, to foster and promote a culture of philanthropy. Working with the president’s office, she will be creating and executing a strategic and data-driven advancement plan that strengthens the Goucher community and cultivates new relationships to support the growth of the college moving forward.

Bowden comes to Goucher from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, the third-oldest law school in the nation, where she was the associate dean for external relations, overseeing all development, alumni relations, academic special events, and communications. Before that, she had been associate dean for institutional advancement at American University Washington College of Law, where a Trishana E. Bowden Scholarship was established by members of the Dean’s Advisory Council in her honor. Throughout her career, she has worked to secure donations, improve alumni relations, and help law schools meet fundraising goals to support a broad range of institutional priorities.

A graduate of Towson University, Bowden has served as co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Law School Development Conference and chaired the Development section of the Association of American Law Schools’ Section on Institutional Advancement. She has also been a presenter and panelist on advancement at several professional conferences.
