OTHER

In OTHER, a new art exhibit at Goucher College, five artists—Carrie Beall, Lania D’Agostino, Kris Grey, Jason Horowitz, and Jaimes Mayhew—explore various aspects of gender. Through video, painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography, these artists give the viewer a glimpse, from their perspective, of what it means to be “other” within the current social climate.

The diverse works in this exhibit portray more than gender normative stereotypes; they delve into the psyche, the personal, and the political. Notions of ambiguity, fluidity, and change lead the viewer to explore the concept of gender.

This exhibit, which is free and open to the public, runs in the Silber Art Gallery in the Sanford J. Ungar Athenaeum on Goucher’s campus from Tuesday, September 2, to Sunday, October 12. The art can be viewed Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. An artists’ reception will be held Friday, September 19, 6 -9 p.m., with an artists’ talk at 7:30 p.m. in the Silber Art Gallery.
