Students from Goucher’s Master of Digital Arts Program will present their multimedia works in “Bit BI Bit,” an exhibition that will run in the college’s Silber Art Gallery starting July 1 and running to the end of the month.The exhibit is free and open to the public and may be viewed Mondays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by contacting Leo Hylan at lehyl001@mail.goucher.edu.
Student artists Andrew Bernstein, Lindsay Bridwell, Leo Hylan, and Jenna Sumar created each piece using the multidisciplinary conceptual framework of the Master of Digital Arts Program, which treats music, animation, design, computer programming, web development, entrepreneurship, new media studies, and other related fields as one larger, convergent discipline. Their works cross disciplines to create an immersive experience, as well as a compelling exhibition.
There will also be reception on Tuesday, July 29, 7-9 p.m. in Hyman Forum of Goucher’s Athenauem. Refreshments will be served, and there will be multimedia performances by Hylan and Bernstein and an experimental performance art piece by Hylan and musician Keith Preston.
The show is curated by Hylan, an MFA candidate and professional artist who has exhibited his work locally and nationally. “It is extremely exciting to showcase the amazing work in this program in a public forum,” Hylan said. “The objectives of this program are to help channel your creative talent and energy, further develop your fluency in multimedia, and craft a meaningful and creative career. This show will be the first of many and will go a long way in furthering those goals.”
