Add a Twitter Feed to Your Course

STEP ONE: Choose A Twitter Feed

To Insert a User Timeline
Add any public Twitter timeline to your course using the instructions below.

  1.  Go to www.twitter.com/settings/widgets.
  2. Log on to your Twitter Account
  3. Click Create New
  4. To add all tweets from one user , select User Timeline Screen Shot 2014-05-06 at 4.10.45 PM
  5. Type in username of the account you wish to follow
  6. Click Create Widget
  7. Copy the code that appears at the bottom of the page.

To Insert a Search Timeline
You may create a search timeline for any query or #hashtag
Search for all tweets that have the same hashtag. Ex. #ENG104

  1.  Go to www.twitter.com/settings/widgets.
  2. Log on to your Twitter Account
  3. Click Create New
  4. To add all tweets from hashtag , select SearchScreen Shot 2014-05-06 at 4.28.49 PM
  5. Type in the word or # that you wish to follow
  6. Click Create Widget
  7. Copy the code that appears at the bottom of the page.

** Make sure your hashtag is specific. We suggest testing your hashtag before making one for your class.  When you do a search for something vague (such as Goucher or GoucherCollege) random tweets will appear that mention those words/phrases.

STEP TWO: Add the Twitter Feed to your GoucherLearn Course

  1. Turn editing on in your course
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the left panel, select Add a Block and then select HTML (the block will be added to the bottom left)
  3. Scroll back to the bottom of the page, find the new block and click on the Edit Icon (looks like a gear) and then Configure (new HTML block) block.
  4. Add a Block Title
  5. Click on the Link button and paste the code copied from STEP ONE above into the box.
  6. Click Save Changes and the Twitter Feed will appear.
