friends and home

Jun 30th, 2008 by Devon

The friends situation is so funny when it comes to Goucher. Within the first two weeks of being home some of my friends and I had already had two Goucher “reunions” and we talked a lot about how much we miss each other. Now that the summer has really taken off people are everywhere- different countries, working on secluded islands, working in cities, or too far away for a simple drive to visit and I really miss everyone. As someone recently made clear to me- you begin to find that Goucher breaks are too long and you crave the company of the people you met there. There is just something about the people that are drawn to Goucher- they’re open and friendly or exceptionally internationally aware or adventurous and fun and often a great combination of the above.

Now, not saying that my friends at home aren’t great, they are awesome and I’ve had an amazing summer so far. I had a fantastic weekend in NY where I hung out with a bunch of people and we celebrated my friend Mike’s birthday and just good times.

and speaking of birthdays- i turn 19 in less than a month now! which means nothing except that i’m getting older and that I will be able to buy cigarettes in NJ but that doesn’t really affect me anyway so three cheers for year 19! almost as useless as 20…

Have a fantastic day!! I’ll try to write again soon!
