Hello there!

Hello!
I meant to begin writing this blog a while ago but things got pretty hectic when I got home so my apologies! But I’ll start now and try to make up for it!
Today was actually a super exciting day for me. I started my internship with this pop radio station in New York today and my timing was insanely lucky! The manager just got a new project over the weekend and I’m so excited because I get to see it through!- Do research, organize presentations, and eventually I will be trained to do pitches to clients!!! I’m SO excited!… which is a perfect lead in to why I love Goucher!
In case you haven’t realized from my radio internship- I am a declared Communications major. So far everything about the Comm department has completely surpassed my expectations of any college (and I certainly don’t have low standards). All of the professors I have had experiences with have been incredible. I had Nsenga Burton for Intro to Comm and she actually made it interesting in addition to bearable. I’m much better with the up-to-date, fast moving side of the media and really don’t like the history that much and she is all about ideologies and the controversies they create and race and gender and just good, modern stuff! Of course we learned all that we had to, but it was cool. (Also, freaking out for a presentation for her class led me to discover what appropriate business attire is- now I’m using that knowledge hardcore with the internship.) Next, for sure take a class with John Turner. He is so ridiculously intelligent but he rants a lot> once you look past the point that he may not be talking about a topic that interests you, you’ll find that it actually does. I learned so much in his Research Methods class. Also, Gayle Economos taught me so much about the business side of the media world and when I walked into my internship I realized how ridiculously relevant every single thing she said was- if you think you want to do sales or advertising or just anything regarding radio or tv i highly suggest Media Management and Content.
Anyway, I wrote enough for now! Hope it wasn’t too comm obsessed!
