The Alumnae & Alumni of Goucher College presents its top honor, the Award for Excellence in Public Service, on Thursday, April 19, at 4:30 p.m. in the Alumnae/i House Courtyard. This year™s recipient is Sara Pilling ™59, founder of Scholarship Soley, a nonprofit organization that provides education for children and vocational training for women in Cité Soleil, Haiti”the Port-au-Prince slum once described by Mother Teresa as the poorest neighborhood on the planet. Sara, a former community organizer in suburban Philadelphia, also works as a standardized patient, a person trained to portray a patient scenario for the purposes of teaching students in medical, nursing, physician™s assistant, and counseling programs.
