goucher college to host city forum

Goucher is thrilled to be the host of City Forum from Friday, April 13th to Sunday, April 15th. City Forum is a student organized, interdisciplinary series of events, lectures, and presentations both on campus and in Baltimore city meant to illustrate and highlight the socio-economic issues that are important to this city. It is the hope of the organizers that this three day forum will encourage even more volunteer participation between students and Baltimore outreach organizations. Some highlights of the weekend events are:

  • Screening of “Boys of Baraka,”a documentary about several young Baltimore boys whose lives are transformed after they are selected to attend the Baraka School in Kenya. The film will be followed by a discussion led by one of the men who attending the Baraka School. The film screens at 4:30 p.m. For more info, contact Michelle Kurta.
  • A bus trip through Baltimore led by Glenn Ross, a lifelong East Baltimore resident. Follow him as he takes the bus through bona fide toxic sites in East Baltimore. The bus will leave from Van Meter circle at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th. To reserve a seat, or for more information, please contact Jared Margulies.
  • A collaboration between local Baltimore activist artists, student artists, and spoken-word poets from the Goucher community will present a an amalgamation of their talents at Arts as Resistance on Saturday, April 14th from 7-9 p.m.in the Heubeck Multipurpose Room.
