February is Black History Month, and there are no shortage of events and programs at Goucher. Today, Monday February 12th, at noon is the first installment of the “Breaking the Bubble: Helping to Transform Lives” series. This event will occur in Buchner Hall, and is intended to highlight individuals and organizations in the Greater Baltimore area that are working to transform their communities. The second upcoming event will be Tuesday, February 13th and is being held in Kelley Lecture Hall, where a screening of Slavery and the Making of America will take place. This four part PBS series documentary traces the history of slavery in America from its beginnings in the British colonies to its end in the Southern states and the years of post-Civil War reconstruction. Following the screening, DeMaris Hill, director of Goucher’s Educational Opportunity program, will facilitate a discussion on slavery and social progress in America. These events, as well as all of the Black History Month programs, are open to everyone.
